The IFRS technical accounting unit, part of the Finance department, is responsible for monitoring the Group’s compliance with relevant IFRSs. The unit is involved in the development process of the Group’s accounting policies by leading new accounting standards implementation projects, monitoring new IFRS developments, preparing an impact assessment on reporting, systems and processes across the Group. Technical accounting unit delivers trainings on new IFRSs, general guidance memos on application of IFRS and memoranda on complex, one-off transactions and also prepares quarterly reports to the Audit and Valuation Committee. The unit is involved in the communication process of the Group with external auditors. The unit is actively engaged in fair valuation of Georgia Capital’s portfolio companies.
Technical accounting and valuation officer will report to the Head of Valuations and IFRS accounting and, have inter alia the following responsibilities:
Analysis of accounting treatment of complex, one-off transactions and preparation of technical accounting memoranda
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with IFRS standards across the Group
Communication with external auditors
Providing accounting advice/guidance
Preparation of accounting policies
Preparing and conducting presentations/trainings on new IFRS, complex accounting matters
Impact assessment and implementation of new accounting standards / changes in accounting policies
Analyzing market data and trends to support accurate valuation inputs
Preparation of financial models
Preparation and review of valuation reports
Required qualifications:
Finance background. An undergraduate or master’s degree in finance, business or economics
At least 3 years of working experience in technical accounting, financial reporting or external audit
Deep knowledge of IFRS standards
ACCA student (at least F7, F8 and F9) or ACCA member or equivalent qualification
Fluency in written and spoken English, and Georgian
Financial modelling skills
Excellent knowledge of MS Excel
Excellent written communication skills to prepare memorandums and presentations
Strong attention to details and position of problem-solving skills coupled with analytical skills
